Welcome to the Exam Guidelines page! This page serves as your central guide to understanding faculty roles and responsibilities with students taking exams with our office. This overview will help you navigate key processes with ease.
Student Accessibility Services (SAS) has a streamlined process for students taking exams with our office. Below you can find the steps for students taking exams with our office along with the necessary steps for Faculty
1) Students are recommended to book exams 7 days in advance to ensure adequate spacing for students. Students have up to 2 business days in advance before the exam date to book exams, however, this does not ensure a placement as we have limited spaces and exam proctors. We encourage professor to remind students to book exams 7 days in advance to ensure adequate spacing for students.
2) Once a student books an exam with our office, our front desk staff will send an email to the student including all faculty associated with the course (Professors, TA's). This email contains the following information: Course, Exam Date, Exam Start End Time, and Exam Location. This email also contains brief information about exam delivery steps for all schools (SSHA, Nat-Sci, Engineering) and contact information. Finally, this email also contains exam delivery instructions for faculty.
3) All exams are to be emailed to proctoringexams@ucmerced.edu with ample time for SAS to prepare the exam for students. Additionally, Exams can be delivered to our office, located in ACS-140, Cubicle 128 Mon-Fri 9AM-4PM. We encourage faculty to deliver exams to SAS (whether digital or physical) as soon as possible to avoid any delays with students exams. Faculty should also email proctoringexams@ucmerced.edu with any additional information which SAS should about the exam (Access codes, specific rules on the exam).
4) On the day of the exam, students will report to SAS to take the exam. Here we have exam proctors who ensure no cheating will be allowed on the exam. We encourage professors to inform SAS the best way to contact professors incase any questions or issues arise during students exams. (This is very important for students taking exams at a different time from the rest of the class).
5) SAS will deliver exams every 2 days depending on the school. All exams within the Nat-Sci school need to be picked up at our office. Additionally, exams cn be dropped off at a specific place per faculty request. Faculty will be emailed with this information once the exams are ready to be picked up.
